Model, trade-in and financing, qualified before the test drive
A car listing online brings in people at very different stages: some have already settled on the model and only want to book the test drive, and some are comparing three dealerships at once with no commitment at all. Sorting that out by phone is far too slow for whoever is already ready to decide. SDRBOT.ai answers on WhatsApp the moment the message arrives, asks about the model of interest, whether there is a vehicle to trade in and how they plan to pay, and books the test drive with the right salesperson — with no need for the shopper to repeat all of it when somebody finally calls back.

The price of a model gets asked about at night, nobody answers until the showroom opens, and the test drive is already booked with the competitor who replied first.
A salesperson calls somebody who only wanted to know which color was on the lot, with no intention of talking trade-in or financing anytime soon, and the call turns into pressure the person never asked for.
A customer who wants to trade in their current car writes the model and the year, but nobody asks about condition or mileage before booking the visit, and the trade-in talk starts from zero on the showroom floor.
A real conversation in car dealerships
What it qualifies before handing the lead over
- Model of interest and whether the decision is made or still being compared against other brands
- Trade-in vehicle — model, year and approximate mileage — when there is one
- How they plan to pay: cash, financing or an installment plan
- Whether they really mean to take a test drive soon, so no visit is booked with somebody who is only browsing

Model and buying intent, separated right at the top
"Do you still have this car?" can come from somebody who has decided and only needs a test drive slot, or from somebody just starting to look and comparing several brands. Treating both messages the same way slows down the one who is ready and pushes too hard on the one who is still shopping.
The SDR asks about the model of interest and whether the person has made a decision or is still comparing options, and sets the pace of the conversation from there. Whoever has decided gets the test drive invitation right away; whoever is still shopping gets the information they need to keep comparing, with no visit forced on them.
The trade-in surfaced before the visit, not at the counter
When the customer wants to put their current car toward the purchase, the salesperson needs the model, the year and the condition before building any offer — finding that out only at the visit slows the whole negotiation and leaves the customer waiting on an appraisal that could have started earlier.
The SDR asks whether there is a vehicle to trade in and collects the model, the year and the approximate mileage as the customer reports them, leaving that written down for the salesperson. The appraisal itself — the number offered for the used car — still happens in person, with the car at the dealership.
Financing asked about without pushing any approval
How somebody pays changes the whole conversation: a cash buyer negotiates price, a financed buyer negotiates the down payment and the monthly payment, and finding that out only at the finance desk makes the customer repeat the story they already told on WhatsApp.
The SDR asks whether they mean to finance, pay cash or use an installment plan, without requesting documents or running a credit offer — that stays with the dealership's finance desk. The salesperson arrives at the test drive already knowing which money conversation comes next.
What your team gains
- A test drive booked in the first conversationSomebody who has already picked the model leaves with a day and a salesperson set, with nothing to repeat on a callback.
- The trade-in arrives written down before the visitModel, year and mileage of the used car are with the salesperson when the customer walks in.
- Financing handled without rushingHow they plan to pay is asked without requesting documents or running an offer over WhatsApp.
- Whoever is only browsing is not pressuredA lead still comparing gets information, not a repeated invitation to come in.
Frequently asked questions
Does the SDR appraise the used car for the trade-in?
No. It records the model, the year and the mileage the customer reports, but the appraised value of the used car depends on an in-person inspection at the dealership. The SDR gets that information to the salesperson early, it does not replace the inspection.
Can it run or approve financing?
No. It asks how the customer plans to pay so the salesperson arrives prepared, but running the numbers, approving the deal and setting the rate depend on the finance desk or the lending partner, after that first contact.
How does it handle somebody who only wants a price, with no plan to visit?
It answers what is already settled — price, colors on the lot, payment terms — without pushing for a test drive. The visit is only offered once the shopper signals that they want to see the car in person.
